Dora Award Winning artist, Alexa Belgrave, has been an active member of Toronto’s music community for almost a decade. Upon completing her ARCT in high school and a degree in jazz piano studies at UofT, she has engaged in a wealth of musical roles spanning across multiple diverse genres with groups such as Moodset, TUSH, INKLOOSIV Voices, concert series like Confluence Concerts and performers Lydia Persaud, Sammy Jackson, Shakura Saida, Alex Samaras and more. You can hear her on keys on her band’s debut album “Let’s Talk” released in March 2024, throughout Tush's debut album "FANTAST", as well as the Cy Young’s EP ‘Wakeup Call’. As a musical director, she has collaborated with theatre companies including Sheridan College (Heathers), the Musical Stage Company (One song Glory program, After the Rain), Nightwood Theatre (World goes round, Urinetown, Sound of Music), Bad Hats Theatre (New Bad Ideas, Narnia) and more. In June 2024 her Band Moodset was a part of the Toronto Jazz fest lineup and in August 2022 she was chosen to be featured in Jazz Fm’s Women in Jazz series live to air. Alexa also had the privilege of music directing a Dora Award winning dance production ‘Young Gifted and Jazz’ with Dance Immersion and Hola Jazz in July 2023 and most recently perform at the Toronto International Tap Dance festival in August 2026 as part of their Convergence performance with Boy’s Club Tap Collective, performing their new work ‘Ostinati as their MD/Composer. She has been in the pit for Mirvish’s ‘Lion King’ as well as played for Young Peoples Theatres productions of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ and ‘Shrek’.  Alexa has taught at Sheridan College, Randolph College for the Performing Arts and Mayfield Secondary School of the Arts as well as freelanced around the GTA in various musical roles. She is currently at the Shaw Festival as the Metcalf Foundation Music Intern for their 2026 Season having played and worked on their ‘Funny Girl’, ‘Perfect Pairings’, ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Frog and Toad’ productions.
