Acclaimed pianist and composer, Alexa Belgrave, has been an active member of Toronto’s music community for almost a decade. Upon completing her ARCT in high school and a degree in jazz piano studies at UofT, she has engaged in a wealth of musical roles spanning across multiple diverse genres with groups such as Moodset, TUSH, INKLOOSIV Voices, Queer Songbook Orchestra, and performers Lydia Persaud, Shakura Saida and more. As a musical director, she has collaborated with theatre companies including Obsidian Theatre Company (Playwrights showcase), the Musical Stage Company (One song Glory program), Nightwood Theatre (World goes round, Urinetown), Bad Hats Theatre (Narnia) and more. In August 2022 she was chosen to be featured in Jazz Fm’s Women in Jazz series, showcasing (live to air) her music and band 'Moodset' to great reception. Alexa also had the privilege of joining The Legendary Blues Cruise November 2022 lineup as the pianist for the Nina Simone Project musical by Shakura S’Aida. You can hear her on keys on her band’s upcoming debut album “Let’s Talk” releasing in March, throughout Tush's debut album "FANTAST", as well as the Cy Young’s EP ‘Wakeup Call’.  Alexa currently teaches at Sheridan College, and Mayfield Secondary School of the Arts as well as freelancing around the GTA in her various musical roles.
